Introducing ClearTract® Foley Catheters
The Benefits of ClearTract®
Silq’s groudbreaking surface treated ClearTract Catheters are made from 100% medical grade silicone with no latex, BPA, or DEHP and demonstrate dramatically reduced endotoxin levels compared to other catheters on the market
-
Silq-treated devices meet the most rigorous requirements for biocompatibility testing
-
Silq ClearTract products are designed to stop infections before they even begin, without the need for antibiotic drugs
-
Silq Treatment has been shown to improve the lubricity of medical grade silicones by up to 18X, alleviating patient discomfort during the implant and explant
-
Unlike catheters made with latex, ClearTract catheters meet the FDA's nonpyrogenicity criteria for blood contacting devices.

The Science Behind ClearTract®
A Groundbreaking Surface Technology
Silq’s patented surface science has found a way to attach specialized molecules permanently to the catheter surface. These molecules are designed to create an extremely thin surface hydration layer, preventing the attachment of bacteria, fungus, and viruses.
Preventing Infections
Our strategy is to create a shield of water molecules over the catheter surface, preventing bacteria and fungi from finding a surface to colonize. Without a place to grow, these microbes are unable to survive long enough to cause an infection.
Effectiveness without Antibiotic Drugs
Antibiotic resistant superbugs are becoming a major global problem causing common antibiotics to become ineffective. Unlike the current approach of prescribing drugs before catheterization or embedding them within the catheter, our catheter is designed to prevent infections from forming, thus requiring reduced antibiotic intervention.
The Danger of Endotoxins
Most catheters on the market are made from latex. While patients may not realize it, latex catheters contain extremely high levels of endotoxins. As they leach out of the catheter, endotoxins can cause systemic inflammation and other complications that affect your overall health.
Overuse of Antibiotic Drugs: A growing concern
According to the WHO, is is estimated that bacterial antimicrobial resistance was directly responsible for 1.27 million deaths in 2019 and scientists project this number to grow to 10 million by 2050. This resistance is primarily driven by the misuse and overuse of antibiotic drugs.
In 2022 the CDC published findings that COVID-19 pandemic had severely worsened the problem of antimicrobial resistance. A July 2024 update to the report stated, “Additional action is critical. We can and must do more to combat antimicrobial resistance”
ClearTract Catheters using Silq’s platform technology represent a new type of solution in the fight against infections. By not seeking to kill bacterial cells and instead simply preventing colonization of the catheter surface, our goal is to stop infections before they even begin and prevent the need for antibiotic drugs.
